What it has to do
Spend control is four jobs, not one dashboard
Meter everything. Model tokens and tool calls from every vendor, through one gateway, so nothing is invisible.
Price it on your terms. Rated against your own contracts and rate cards, committed or pay-as-you-go, at the price in force when the call was made.
Give it an owner. Every call attributed to a person and a department, including calls an agent made on someone's behalf.
Stop it in time. Allowances per person and per department, enforced inline. Large or unusual actions can be held for a named approver.
How Magertron does it
Metering, chargeback and caps in your own cluster
Magertron rates every metered call against your contracts and shows cost per model, per caller, per department and per prompt, with chargeback to cost centers. Caps come from your policy, so finance changes a number, not code. See cost and reporting.
Questions
Frequently asked
What is an AI spend control plane?
It is the layer that measures what every AI agent costs, model tokens and tool calls alike, attributes that cost to a person and a department, and enforces limits before money is spent rather than reporting it after the invoice arrives.
Why isn't the model provider's usage dashboard enough?
A provider's dashboard shows tokens for that provider. Agents also call paid MCP tools and APIs from other vendors. An AI spend control plane sees all of it in one place, priced on your own contracts.
Can Magertron cap spend per person or per department?
Yes. Allowances for a person or a department are set in your policy and enforced at the gateway on every call. When a cap is reached, the next call is refused before it is made.
What happens when an agent acts on someone's behalf?
The call is charged to the person the agent works for, and both identities are recorded, so spend lands with the right owner even when no human made the call directly.
Does Magertron see my prompts?
Cost reporting works on metered calls and turn identifiers. Reading a prompt's text is a separate, audited step.
